Painting Dog

Sammy, a foxhound mix, using a paintbrush attached to a rubber bone, paints a canvas Tuesday,June 12,2007, at a gallery at Salisbury University in Salisbury, Md.Mary Stadelbacher, owner of Shore Service Dogs has a collection of abstract paintings daubed by her three service dogs in training. The creations are rudimentary, to be sure, but the pictures of bright strokes across white canvasses are winning fans because of their tail-wagging creators.

Investigation into contaminated fish feed grows
(CNN) -- Federal officials said Thursday that the industrial compound melamine, which is suspected of causing the deaths of thousands of pets nationwide, has been found in fish feed at a hatchery in Oregon and may have been sent to nearly 200 other companies.
The feed, found at Marion Forks Hatchery in Idanha, Ore., was used as a "starter diet" for juvenile salmon and trout, said Dr. David Acheson, assistant commissioner for food protection at the Food and Drug Administration.
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife said it contacted the manufacturer, Skettring Co., and found that the same lot of feed was shipped to hatcheries in Willamette, Gnat Creek, Cole Rivers, Butte Falls and Leaburg, Ore.
"Hatchery managers immediately discontinued using any remaining fish feed from the lot in question and notified the FDA," the department said in a news release.
In all, Acheson said, Skettring has 198 domestic customers "that may or may not have received feed that contained the suspect lot." (Posted 5:29 p.m.)

Beacon My Cousin

Hello this is Beacon my cousin. She lives in Florida. The Sunshine State. She loves her stroller. Every night after dinner she tells me there is this gorgeous woman and handsome dude, who walk around the neighborhood. I get to see owls and other birds. Some times I even go into the hardware stores. The people and friends wave and come up to say hello!
Every one tells Beacon how cute and spoiled she is. They don't have to tell her, she knows!

Couldn't Sleep

I tossed and turn last night. I kept on thinking of my two friends who's cats had died last month from kidney failure. The vet said they were sickly, the vet gave medicine, steroids, over night for more test. Nothing worked. Now we can only figure, coincident,I think not.
I kept thinking what if it was me feeding my pets "RAT POISON"
We go out of our way to feed them well. Give them a comfortable and warm place to sleep.
Take en for rides, take em on vacation, throw the ball and they chase it.Feed them and they eat knowing we will do them no harm.
I hear the low number of death from the RAT POISON, what about my friends cats?
What about all of the others that just had kidney failure?

Lance Mackey Racing Toward Historic Finish
— Chas St. George
Lance Mackey is on the run in “The Last Great Race to Nome.” Mackey is dashing toward the Burled Arch wearing bib #13. That number has a tremendous amount of significance for Lance.
“My Dad (Dick) and my brother (Rick) won this race in their sixth attempt wearing bib #13. This year marks my sixth Iditarod and I intend to wear bib #13,”
said Mackey. He went on to say,
“I believe I have the team and the ability. This year I am going to put it all together and the Come Back Kennel goal for 2007 is to make sure that there is a third Mackey on the list of Iditarod Champions. This is my year!”
The 36 year-old Mackey has already achieved greatness in the Yukon Quest — winning the last three years in a row.
Right behind Mackey is another musher who has Nome on his mind, Paul Gebhardt. Gebhardt and Mackey are from the same neighborhood — Kasilof, Alaska. Both mushers have great teams and they're stirring up a lot of excitement. Behind Mackey and Gebhardt are Martin Buser, Zack Steer, and Jeff King.
There’s still a lot of race left with a finish that could be one for the history books!!!

From Trail Tidbits 15, March 11 — "I have had some unique culinary experiences this trip. I had moose stew at several villages in Athabascan country and now that I am on the coast with the Inupiaq, I have had Muktuk, which is raw whale, and beaver bacon. The Muktuk tasted like a chewy, very oily sushi (it would have been better with some wasabi). The beaver bacon had a strong taste and the texture of liver. The moose was similar to a beef boiled with vegetables and broth. All were pretty tasty, but my favorite was the moose stew! " Read more…
